Greg Segall is a seasoned private equity investor and has engaged in buyouts, corporate finance and capital markets for more than 30 years, investing in, managing, and advising dozens of companies and stakeholders across a wide variety of industries and transactions.
Greg has led Versa Capital and its predecessors since their founding in 1992 and has overall responsibility for the firm and its affiliates. He is a current and past Chair or Director of numerous companies both within and outside of Versa's portfolios.
Mr. Segall is an expert in distressed and 'special situations' investing, as well as business management, strategy and performance improvement including turnarounds, restructurings and reorganizations. His expertise in governance, corporate finance and capital markets developed over a career advising, managing and deploying capital through equity, debt and other transaction structures involving both public and private companies.
He's been a speaker, panelist, commentator and lecturer on many of these topics for industry and professional associations, national news and media outlets, and other prominent organizations including distinguished business and law schools.
Prior to founding Versa, Mr. Segall was a Managing Director with Sigoloff & Associates, Inc., a restructuring advisory firm. He is a graduate of Pepperdine University, where he received his MBA, and a member of the international organizations known as CEO (Chief Executives Organization) and YPO (Young Presidents' Organization).
Mr. Segall’s active civic engagement has included both public service and non-profit/charitable organizations. By appointment of the Mayor of Philadelphia, he is a board member of Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW), a member of the Philadelphia Tax Reform Commission, and CoChair of the Mayor’s Business Roundtables.
His past civic service includes: Trustee of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; Chairman and Trustee of the Children's Crisis Treatment Center; Board member of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts; and Governor/Trustee of the State Bar of California by legislative appointment.
